Meet Our Team

Rosina Tan

English, Literacy, Mathematics

Rosina Tan, fondly known as Ms Rose or Teacher Rose by her students, parents and guardians, is the Founder and Director of Cornerstone Learning Needs Centre.  Since 2000, she has been teaching children with learning differences, English, Literacy and Mathematics, with great success.  Her students’ profile include those with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Mild Autism, Global Developmental Delays and Attention Deficit Disorders.



Her passion in wanting to understand and help these children, motivated her to take up numerous professional courses such as the Diploma in Pre-School Education (Teaching), Specialist Diploma in Teaching Children with Learning Differences and Teaching Dyslexic Children, Lindamood Bell (Seeing Stars, Visualising and Verbalising Comprehension and On Cloud Nine Math), Teaching Certificates in Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Language Studies I/II, Phonology in English, Composition Writing, Comprehension, Numeracy and an instructor course in Heuristic Mathematics.



These courses have given Rosina great insights into teaching many specific areas of learning, and developed her own ways and strategies to bring about real learning and measurable success for her students.

Rosie Ang

Mathematics, Science

Rosie Ang is a Remedial Specialist with more than ten years of experience teaching Mathematics and Science to students from local, international as well as special schools. She has been with Cornerstone Learning Needs Centre soon after its inception. Her patience and gentleness in working with children with learning difficulties and special needs especially, endears her to them and with the application of effective strategies, helps them find confidence and improvement in their learning.

 

Rosie advocates constant professional upgrading and has taken various courses with Certificates in Teaching Children with Learning Differences, Teaching Dyslexic Children and Special Education Needs.  She has also completed the DAS course in Supporting Learners with Numeracy Difficulties. 

Joan Chua

English, Literacy, Mathematics

Joan Chua is a Remedial Specialist with Cornerstone Learning Needs Centre since 2012, teaching children with learning differences and special needs, English, Literacy and Mathematics. Her passion to help these children, has seen her through more than 3 decades of teaching experience in the field of special education. She has taught children with hearing impairment, challenging behaviours, developmental delays, literacy setbacks and children with multiple disabilities. From 2005 todate, she also works closely with lecturers at the National Institute of Education as a part-time lecturer and tutor in the area of special education modules.

 

Joan holds a Master of Special Education (Aust), Diploma in the International Course on the Education of Deaf Children of Normal Intelligence (The Netherlands), Advanced Diploma in the Management of Education of Hearing Impaired Children by the Natural Auditory Oral Approach (Singapore).  In addition, she also attended courses on the Fundamentals of Autism, Understanding and Managing the Needs of Children with ADHD, the Orton-Gillingham Approach, Choice Theory and Reality Therapy.  She also attended the Group Triple P Provider Training - a course which aids in the management of children with challenging behaviours.

Sharon Koh

Mathematics, Science

Sharon Koh is a Remedial Specialist with Cornerstone Learning Needs Centre since 2013. She specialises in teaching Mathematics and Science to local and international students at different academic levels as well as learning abilities. Her students include those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism and attention deficit disorders.  Her passion is to help her students understand concepts through effective strategies and to equip them with learning and processing skills, to achieve their maximum academic potentials.

 

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology and Chemistry. In addition, she also holds a Certificate in Dyscalculia and Numeracy from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore.
